Overview
Holivus is a smart Wellness Operating System (OS) that takes an individual's complex health data and turns it into clear, simple daily actions. It is a Yellow Slice internal project overseen by the CEO - Kishore Fogla and the core belief is "Holistic Wellness, Empowered Us.”
The goal of Holivus is to make preventive health accessible to everyone by simplifying complex biological data into an easy, visual experience. It avoids medical prescriptions and focuses instead on helping users take proactive steps to maintain or improve their health.
The main goal is to help everyone take charge of their mental, physical, and biological health using personalised, data-based insights. Holivus bridges data, design, and empathy to create a health experience that is both analytical and personal, empowering users to take control of their wellness journey with confidence and clarity.
The Problem
The way people manage personal wellness today is often messy and too general, characterised by several key issues:
Disconnected Data: Health information is scattered across many different wearables, lab reports, and separate apps.
Vague Advice: Most guidance isn't customised, failing to truly fit an individual's unique biology.
No Clear Steps: Users often don't know the exact "what to do or why," leading to confusion and inaction.
Missing Big Picture: There is no single, unified view of a person’s total health status covering their mind, body, and biology.
Design Approach
We adopted the STEP (Soak, Think, Execute, Proof) process, a framework divided into three distinct phases: UX Research, UX Design, and UI Design. The research phase focused on understanding how users perceive and interact with health data. Insights from user interviews and competitive analysis revealed the need for a structured yet intuitive way to interpret personal wellness metrics.
Based on these findings, the design direction prioritised clarity, accessibility, and engagement. The core UI was planned around three main features — the Human Anatomy Health Map, Symptom & Deficiency Checker, and Personalised Biohack Protocols. These features together formed the foundation of the product’s user experience, offering an integrated wellness journey from insight to action.
The MVP of the app centers around three key modules: Lab Report Analysis, Health Tests, and Human Anatomy. Each module is designed to help users visualise and interpret their wellness in a structured and meaningful way. The app’s AI calculates a wellness score and offers guidance based on the results, ranging from basic improvements to recommendations for medical consultation in case of worsening conditions.
The Human Anatomy dashboard serves as the visual centrepiece of the experience. It allows users to see their health represented visually through a gender specific 3D anatomy model. Each part of the body is marked with a coloured indicator that reflects its current state of health, helping users quickly identify areas that need attention and track improvements over time.
Visual Direction & Evolution
The design of Holivus began with a focus on creating a structured, minimal, and functional interface that presented complex health information in a clear and approachable manner. The initial version of the UI established the foundation for navigation, information hierarchy, and overall flow of the wellness experience.
I decided on a simple gradient approach to the overall design against a dark background. Once the base UI was completed, the project was handed over to the graphic team for illustration and icon creation. As the UI designer and project owner, I guided this process, providing direction for the visual tone and integration of graphic elements into the interface.
During this stage, the graphic team explored a new, futuristic visual language that redefined the app’s aesthetic direction. Their anatomy visuals and iconography introduced a heightened sense of depth and sophistication. The result was so forward-looking that it inspired a complete redesign of the interface to achieve visual balance between the UI and the illustrations.
This collaborative redesign pushed the boundaries of what we initially envisioned for Holivus. It led us to refine every screen, enhance the colour hierarchy, and introduce a more immersive dark theme with teal and gradient as accents that complemented the visuals.
I experimented with a “glimmer and shine” approach, using colour and light to accentuate key elements. This helped create visual depth and make components stand out against the dark background. The final result achieved harmony between functionality and visual storytelling.
The project became an example of how cross-team collaboration can elevate design quality. It showcased how we, as individual designers and as a team, could challenge each other to go beyond the expected and deliver a more cohesive, future ready product.
Impact and Outcome
Holivus is currently in beta testing and available on the Google Play Store.
It is also being tested by independent medical professionals and early users to refine the experience.
The clean and data focused UI makes complex health information easier to read and navigate, with early feedback highlighting its clarity and usability.
Contributions and Lessons Learnt
As the project owner, this experience strengthened my ability to balance functionality with visual storytelling. I learned how to maintain design clarity while introducing a bold, futuristic aesthetic that pushed the UI beyond conventional wellness apps.
Collaborating with the graphic team taught me the value of cross-discipline communication and the importance of visual harmony between interface and illustration. This project also deepened my understanding of building scalable design systems and refining them through iterative feedback.
My key contributions included defining the core UI structure, leading the visual direction, and ensuring cohesion across all modules, from the Human Anatomy Health Map to the Symptom Checker and personalized wellness dashboards.
Holivus became a milestone in developing creative leadership, shaping not only my approach to design execution but also to guiding teams toward a unified design vision.
Instead of a single handoff, I maintained consistent communication with the developers, conducting regular, phase-by-phase quality checks throughout the build process.
